Making a Difference
In 1980, former NJ State Trooper Robert L. Holmes Sr. obtained his private investigator’s license and began implementing some of the world’s first swap meet anti-counterfeiting enforcement programs for many famous brands. In 1988, he became one of the first PIs to utilize then-new computer databases to solve his cases, renaming his firm Holmes Hi-Tech. From 1989 to 2001, he was retained by the world’s largest brands to lead their anti-counterfeiting efforts on the streets of New York.
In 2004, Bob lost his long battle with depression and died by suicide at the age of 55. Bob's two sons, Rob and Jason, continue to practice his strategies on a worldwide scale and work together in the family business. After watching a news report on the effects the current economic downturn has had on American sucide rates, Rob decided to make a difference. IPCybercrime began donating a percentage of their profits to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and is a sponsor of their community walk in Plano TX where Rob and Jason now live.
About fifteen percent of the population will suffer from clinical depression at some time during their lifetime. Thirty percent of all clinically depressed patients attempt suicide; half of them ultimately die by suicide. Between 80 and 90 percent of people with depression respond positively to treatment, and almost all patients gain some relief from their symptoms. But first, depression has to be recognized. If you are in crisis call 800-273-TALK (8255). Join IPCybercrime and the Holmes family in bringing suicide out of the darkness.
